The Smoky Mountain Log Cabin That Started It All

High Frontier Lodge found us almost by chance. In 2020, we met a lovely couple who have lived off the grid since the late '70s, in a log cabin they built by hand on 100+ acres at the top of the mountain. A short way from their home, they built a second log home on four wooded acres and named it High Frontier Lodge. We fell in love with it, and it became ours. We kept the name to honor the friends who built it. Six years and nearly a hundred five-star reviews later, the Lodge is still where it all began.

Room to wander, explore, and settle into the quiet. The property borders the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, creating a secluded setting surrounded by North Georgia wilderness.

The 7-person hot tub sits behind the Lodge in its own patch of woods. The 437-square-foot deck out front has the grill, the dining table, and the mountain view.

Hiking and offroad trails start right at the property and wind through thousands of acres of mountain forest. Bring the ATVs, bikes, or just good boots.

Trout fishing, boating, and the swim beach at Cheoah Point are a short drive away. Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and the Cherohola Skyway are close too.

About Log Cabin

High Frontier Lodge found us almost by chance. In 2020, we met a couple who live on 100+ acres at the top of the mountain outside Robbinsville. Years before, they had built a log lodge by hand on four wooded acres nearby and named it High Frontier Lodge. We fell in love with it, and it became ours. We kept the name to honor the friends who built it. Six years, nearly a hundred reviews, and a 4.97 rating later, the Lodge is still where it all began.

Planning Your Stay

Everything you need to know before you arrive.

  • The Farmhouse is located just outside Dahlonega, tucked away on 25 private acres in the North Georgia mountains. The property feels wonderfully secluded, but you’re still only a short drive from Historic Dahlonega Square, local wineries, restaurants, and area attractions. Detailed driving directions will be provided before your stay.

  • Guests will receive arrival instructions prior to check-in, including directions to the property and entry information. Because the home is set on private acreage, we recommend arriving during daylight hours when possible, especially if it’s your first visit.

  • The property is accessed by a private drive, and complimentary parking is available on site. Mountain weather can occasionally affect road conditions, so guests are encouraged to check the forecast before traveling and use extra care during periods of heavy rain or winter weather.

  • Your 50% deposit made at the time of booking is non-refundable.

    If you need to cancel or change your stay more than 30 days before your arrival date, your full balance may be applied toward a future stay at one of our properties or toward different dates, subject to availability.

    If you paid in full at the time of booking and cancel more than 30 days before your stay, you will receive a 50% refund.

    The cleaning fee will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 7 days prior to your stay.
