About Us & Our Story

How High Frontier began…

Our Story

High Frontier Lodge came first, and we didn’t build it. Our friends Brad and Ginger did, by hand, on Squally Creek below the land they still live on at the top of the mountain. The cabin was already standing when we met them. When it became ours, we kept the name. Calling it anything else didn’t feel right.

That cabin is where we learned to host. [A first-guest moment, or what you learned that first year.] Some families have now come back four times. One group of nine calls it “The Big House.”

Springer Mountain Ranch came next: a farmhouse on 25 acres near Dahlonega with its own lake and fishing dock. [Why this property: what you saw the first time you walked it.]

We choose, furnish, and take care of both places ourselves. Every stocked kitchen, board game, and fishing pole is there because we asked what we’d want after a long drive.

See you in the mountains,
Steve and Maria
